    Education:

    Bachelor Degree

    Associate Degree with relevant experience
     

    Tasks

    • Coach and train staff members
    • Meet cost, productivity, accuracy and timeline targets
    • Review each new part/order in advance to pre-plan packaging, develop component specific packaging work instructions, and requisition packaging materials
    • Overseeing incoming receipts and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and conditions of shipments
    • Determining work procedures, preparing work schedules and expediting workflow
    • Streamline the flow of products as they move throughout the plant from receiving to production and from production back to receiving and/or shipping
    • Ensure incoming and outgoing product is properly identified and labeled
    • Assign and enforce the use of incoming and outgoing product staging areas
    • Ensure outgoing products are packaged appropriately and safely as well as cost-effectively
    • Contribute to "make/buy" decisions on extensive or repetitive packaging needed
    • Arranging transportation that optimizes service and cost, negotiate with freight companies for the best pricing points and communicate with other departments to ensure freight bills are monitored for accuracy
    • Ensure the company has appropriate shipping credentials (should we need to ship hazardous materials, i.e. should we need to ship paint, batteries or other items deemed hazardous.
    • Inspecting incoming materials and notifying appropriate staff of potential quality issues
    • Inspecting loading operations to ensure compliance with safety and customer specifications as well as best practice for the safe transport of parts
    • Directing movement of shipments to appropriate work areas
    • Ensuring shipping area is organized and clean at all times and meets all compliance factors and ensure receiving area is organized and material is tracked and logged
    • Oversee material picking and handling. Enforce material picking procedures and improve upon the processes
    • Ensuring that all employees are in compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations and other company-related policies and procedures
    • Investigating and solving customer problems and issues
    • Compiling and maintaining applicable metrics as required
    • Managing the departmental budget
    • Training, developing and performance-monitoring activities
    • Oversee and schedule cycle counts and other scheduled inventory checks as required

    Improve department by implementing location tracking

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
    Directly supervises Shipping, Receiving and Material Handlers.
